Our story
The Inca Trail Ecolodge is an exclusive site offering comfortable lodging in “Covered Tents” or unique “Tented Huts”. It is located on a small plateau next to the Urubamba River overlooking the impressive“Apu Veronica”sacred mountain: A snow peak of 6,283 meters over sea level. The Lodge is also very close to the entrance of the famous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
Acclimatization
The major reason for altitude illnesses is because you go too high too fast. Given time, your body can adapt to the decrease in oxygen molecules at a specific altitude, by creating more red blood cells. This process is known as acclimatization and generally takes 1-3 days at high altitude.
If you are hiking the Inca Trail and you want to treat your body to a good acclimatization, the INCA TRAIL ECOLODGE is an ideal place for an easy acclimatization period: We offer different hikes to help your body adapt while lodging in comfort and eating healthy.
Sustainability
At Inca Trail Ecolodge we strive to work towards an environmentally friendly existence with our surroundings. We are doing everything we can to move in the right direction for a bright and sustainable future for our Ecolodge.
Our solar panels provide the tented huts with hot water, minimizing our need to use gas. Our organic vegetable garden allows us to prepare delicious home-grown meals for our guests. We separate our rubbish between: organic, which we compost, and paper, plastic, glass, metal and batteries which we reuse, recycle, etc.Travel & Location
